Direct Database Access

Maximo and TRIRIGA SaaS support direct, read-only database access. This is typically used for custom BIRT Report Development or running SQL queries against the database from customer workstations. Direct database access requires two things: (1) a jdbc database connection established and (2) a database access account.

There are three database connection types:

Database Connection Types

  1. Maximo and TRIRIGA SaaS customers can obtain direct read-only database access by using OpenVPN Client (installed on their workstation)

  2. Maximo SaaS Flex customers have direct read-only database access via RDC (Remote Desktop) when logged into an Enhanced Access (DEV) server console. Write access to DEV databases is also allowed, but must be specifically requested via case ticket

  3. Maximo and TRIRIGA SaaS customers can also obtain direct read-only database access by configuring a Site-to-Site IPsec VPN

For more detail on Maximo & TRIRIGA SaaS VPN options, go here

If you are a Maximo or TRIRIGA SaaS Customer and would like an OpenVPN client account, submit a case that contains the following information for each user:

Information to provide in Case

Example

Name

John Smith

email address

john.smith@acme.com

Database Connections Requested

DEV, TEST, PROD

If you would like a Site-to-Site IPsec VPN configured, submit case requesting a site-to-site VPN along with a description on the purpose of the VPN. See examples below.

"Acme needs a site-to-site VPN established in order to support jdbc integration to our Oracle Financials database"
"Acme needs a site-to-site VPN established to our TEST and PROD databases to support read-only access for report development"

One of the above three connectivity options (OpenVPN, Site to Site VPN, RDC) must be in place before database connectivity can be achieved

Database Access Accounts
In addition to the above VPN connectivity, Maximo and TRIRIGA SaaS database login requires distinct, separate database user accounts (one account per user). Database user accounts must exist in each target database. Database user accounts can be obtained by submitting a separate case that contains the following information for each user:

Information to provide in Case

Example

Name

John Smith

email address

john.smith@acme.com

Databases Requested

DEV, TEST, PROD

Type of Access

Read, Write
(Note: Write access can only be requested for Maximo Enhanced Access DEV databases)

Note: multiple database user accounts can be requested in a single support case.
